Long story short: I want all the pets. In fact, in my imagination, I pretty much already have them.

In my short stories, I vicariously own a whole barn, complete with goats, horses, donkeys, chickens, a cat, a dog, and it seems to welcome a new animal every so often.

I love animals. In real life, you could say I raise chickens, haha. They’re not mine, but they come to visit, and I feed them. One of them is so tame she could sleep in the house if we let her. That’s one of the peculiarities of life in Guadeloupe. Wildlife is very much part of our modern lives in many ways.

But realistically, having all the pets I want would be a full-time job. If I could only have, say, one, I’ve had a long-standing fixation on a white tiger. Don’t ask. Ok, I’ll tell you anyway: a big, cuddly cat that I could also ride like a horse. That’s the dream.

If not, I think I’d settle for a parrot. A talkative one. A playful one. One I can have odd conversations with. And it has to have flamboyant colours.

At least that seems attainable. But again, really, I’d want more. Maybe I should open an animal refuge or something, like a character of mine resolved to do at the end of this story 🤭

By the way, maybe I should compile all the short stories I’ve written featuring animals into a collection. Should I? Check out a few to sample.

Thanks for reading!

Now let’s see if any other blogger feels the way I feel about animals 😬

I’d have all the pets if I could, too! I love animals. A tiger would be risky haha.
